The Martha Franck Fragrance Garden

RGC members help the Garden Club of North Carolina maintain the Martha Franck Fragrance Garden on the campus of the Governor Morehead School for the Blind in Raleigh.

The unique 1.1 acre garden is located in the heart of the Governor Morehead School for the Blind, across from Pullen Park. The Raleigh Garden Club, along with other GCNC clubs, sponsors and maintains the garden of fragrant perennials and shrubs. The garden allows visually impaired students and those with multiple physical challenges to experience scent, sound, and touch. Signage and labeling throughout the garden is done in Braille or raised letters. Located within the garden is a gazebo which houses the old school bell for GMS. The garden serves as an outdoor classroom for GMS, as well as being the centerpiece for various school functions.

The garden has been a cooperative project between the school and The Garden Club of North Carolina, Inc. since 1960.

The Martha Franck Fragrance Garden located at 301 Ashe Ave. in Raleigh.

Join your RGC friends at 10:00 am on the 3rd Tuesday of each month (weather permitting) to help with the maintenance of the garden.
