Sanctuary Garden at Transitions LifeCare

In 2012 RGC designed and installed a wildlife habitat garden of native plants. It is designed to attract, feed, and protect birds and butterflies, as well as to provide a quiet respite next to the Chapel. The garden features benches, a birdhouse and feeder, and pollinator plants to bring life to the garden.

The garden has been maintained by the Raleigh Garden Club since its inception, in coordination with the grounds crew of the whole landscape. Transitions LifeCare (founded as Hospice of Wake County) is a non-profit organization dedicated to caring for individuals and families with compassion, support, and expertise as they navigate the end of life or life-changing illness.

In addition to maintaining this garden, the Raleigh Garden Club hosts a special holiday luncheon for TLC staff. This year’s holiday luncheon for Transitions LifeCare staff, volunteers, and RGC members will be held at Transitions LifeCare Center, 250 Hospice Circle, Raleigh, in mid-December -the exact date will be announced in the Leaflet and at the October meeting.

This annual luncheon, which RGC members provide for the TLC staff, allows us to take some time out of our busy schedules to share a meal with and thank the amazing staff and volunteers who help patients and their families navigate the changes made necessary by a serious or teminal illness. TLC provides compassion and support to residents of Wake, Durham, Franklin, Harnett, Johnston, and eastern Chatman counties as well as Carrboro and Chapel Hill.

There will be sign-up sheets available at our October and November general meetings, as well as invitations will be emailed by SignUpGenius, you may go online to sign up also.
